1. Sponsor and agreement to the rules

The Gore Volunteer Fire & Rescue 2026 Yard Party Cash Raffle (“Raffle”) is sponsored and conducted by Gore Volunteer Fire & Rescue (“GVFR”), a federally tax-exempt Virginia nonprofit organization.

By purchasing a Raffle ticket, each purchaser and entrant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and by GVFR’s decisions concerning the interpretation and administration of the Raffle. GVFR’s decisions are final to the extent permitted by law.

The Raffle is subject to applicable federal, state, and local laws and is void where prohibited.

2. Raffle period

The Raffle begins at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time on July 1, 2026, and ends at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time on August 15, 2026 (“Raffle Period”).

All ticket sales will end at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time on August 15, 2026. GVFR’s records will determine whether a ticket purchase was completed before the deadline.

3. Eligibility

The Raffle is open only to individuals who are at least eighteen years old at the time of purchase and who may lawfully purchase and participate in a charitable raffle.

An entry is void if the purchase or participation is prohibited by the laws applicable where the purchaser is located.

GVFR may require proof of identity, age, and eligibility before awarding a prize.

4. Prizes

Three cash prizes of $500 each will be awarded.

The total value of all prizes is $1,500. No substitution or exchange of a prize is permitted except as provided in these Official Rules.

5. Ticket prices

Raffle tickets may be purchased at the following prices:

• One ticket for $1; or

• Six tickets for $5.

Online tickets are sold in packages of six tickets for $5. There is no limit on the number of tickets an eligible individual may purchase, subject to availability and any transaction limits imposed by GVFR or its online payment provider.

Each ticket purchased constitutes one separate entry and receives an equal chance of being selected.

6. Online purchases

Raffle tickets may be purchased online through GVFR’s website at www.gorevfr.com/fundraisers.

Online purchasers will not receive physical ticket copies. A confirmation will be sent to the email address provided with the order. The purchaser is responsible for supplying accurate and complete contact information and retaining the confirmation as a record of the purchase.

An online order is not complete until payment has been successfully processed and GVFR has accepted the order. An attempted transaction, pending transaction, abandoned checkout, declined payment, chargeback, or payment reversal does not create a valid entry.

7. In-person purchases

Tickets may be purchased in person from an authorized GVFR member or representative.

An in-person purchaser will receive the purchaser’s portion of the physical ticket. The purchaser must provide complete and legible information on the ticket as requested.

Only tickets properly issued by GVFR or its authorized representatives are valid.

8. Finality of purchases

Except when the Raffle is canceled or when GVFR determines that a valid entry was not created, all ticket purchases are final. No refunds, exchanges, or replacements will be provided for lost confirmations or lost purchaser portions of physical tickets.

Entries that are incomplete, illegible, altered, counterfeited, duplicated without authorization, obtained through payment fraud, or otherwise invalid under these Official Rules may be disqualified.

GVFR is the final judge of the validity and eligibility of entries, subject to applicable law.

Tickets purchased for this Raffle are valid only for the drawing conducted on August 15, 2026.

9. Technical problems

GVFR is not responsible for orders that cannot be completed because of technical failures, interrupted internet or cellular service, payment-processing failures, incompatible equipment, inaccurate information supplied by a purchaser, or other circumstances outside GVFR’s reasonable control.

If GVFR receives payment but determines that valid entries were not created, GVFR will either correct the entries before the drawing or refund the affected purchase.

10. Drawing and selection of winners

The drawing will be conducted on August 15, 2026, during the 2026 GVFR Yard Party at:

The drawing is expected to occur after ticket sales close at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The exact drawing time may vary depending on the Yard Party schedule.

Three tickets will be selected at random. Each ticket will have an equal chance of selection. A winning ticket will be removed before the next ticket is drawn.

Each selected ticket will win one $500 prize. Because individuals may purchase multiple tickets, the same individual may win more than one prize if more than one of that individual’s tickets is selected.

Entrants do not need to be present to win.

GVFR may broadcast the drawing through Facebook Live or another platform. Failure of a broadcast, recording, or internet connection will not invalidate an otherwise properly conducted drawing.

11. Winner notification

GVFR will make reasonable efforts to contact each potential winner using the telephone number or email address provided with the winning entry. GVFR may also announce each winner’s name on its website, social-media pages, at the Yard Party, or through other appropriate media.

A potential winner must contact GVFR within fourteen calendar days after the drawing and complete the prize-claim requirements. An entrant is responsible for monitoring the contact information supplied with the entry and GVFR’s publicly announced results.

12. Claiming a prize

To claim a prize, a potential winner must:

1. Provide valid government-issued identification;

2. Demonstrate that the winner meets the eligibility requirements;

3. Provide any information reasonably required for tax reporting or legal compliance; and

4. Sign an affidavit of eligibility, prize receipt, liability release, or publicity release if GVFR reasonably requires one.

Any required documents must be returned within five business days after the potential winner receives them, unless GVFR provides additional time in writing.

A prize will be issued only after GVFR verifies the winning entry and the winner’s eligibility. Payment may be made by check or another method selected by GVFR.

13. Unclaimed or forfeited prizes

A potential winner will forfeit the prize if the potential winner:

• Does not contact GVFR within fourteen calendar days after the drawing;

• Cannot be contacted using the information provided;

• Is ineligible;

• Refuses the prize;

• Fails to provide required identification or information;

• Fails to return required documents by the applicable deadline; or

• Violates these Official Rules.

If a prize is forfeited, GVFR may select an alternate winner through another random drawing from the remaining eligible tickets.

14. Taxes and deductibility

The purchase of a Raffle ticket is payment for a chance to win and is not deductible as a charitable contribution.

Each winner is responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes associated with the prize. GVFR will report winnings, request taxpayer information, and withhold amounts when required by applicable law.

15. Ticket transfers and resale

Raffle tickets and entries may not be resold. A ticket or entry obtained through an unauthorized resale is void.

Online entries are registered to the individual identified in the order and may not be transferred or reassigned after purchase. The purchaser is responsible for entering the intended entrant’s correct information when placing the order.

Physical tickets may not be altered or transferred for resale. GVFR may require the claimant to establish that the claimant is the person identified on the winning ticket.

Prizes may not be assigned or transferred before the original winner’s identity and eligibility have been verified by GVFR.

 

16. Cancellation, suspension, or modification

GVFR may cancel, suspend, postpone, or modify the Raffle if fraud, tampering, technical failures, severe weather, emergency conditions, government action, or other circumstances beyond GVFR’s reasonable control impair the security, fairness, integrity, or lawful operation of the Raffle.

If GVFR cancels the Raffle without conducting a drawing, GVFR will refund valid ticket purchases to the extent reasonably possible using its purchase records.

A change to the drawing time that does not materially affect entrants’ chances of winning will not require refunds.

17. Release and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, each entrant agrees to release and hold harmless GVFR and its officers, directors, members, volunteers, employees, representatives, and agents from claims arising from participation in the Raffle or the acceptance or use of a prize, except for claims that cannot lawfully be waived.

Nothing in these Official Rules is intended to exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

18. Publicity

Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of a prize authorizes GVFR to publish the winner’s name, city and state of residence, photograph, likeness, voice, and prize information for reasonable promotional, reporting, and charitable-fundraising purposes without additional compensation.

GVFR will not publish a winner’s full street address, telephone number, email address, Social Security number, or other sensitive identifying information.

19. Privacy

GVFR will use personal information submitted in connection with the Raffle to process purchases, administer the drawing, contact potential winners, verify eligibility, award prizes, maintain required records, and comply with applicable law.

Personal information will not be added to a marketing list unless the individual separately consents to receive marketing communications.

20. Governing law and severability

The Raffle and these Official Rules are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Any legal proceeding arising from the Raffle or these Official Rules must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction located in Frederick County, Virginia, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

If any provision of these Official Rules is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
